I have a question, Corby. A pigeon landed in our garden. He seems tame and used to people - he's been following us around for days - he comes in the green house and hangs out in the same place. He'll let us get close, but only within a foot. He's got two bands on his legs. I'm wondering if he's lost - it seems like it. I'm worried my cat may make a go at him. Not sure what to do. We live in the middle of nowhere, so it's kinda curious. Can homing pigeons get lost? I'm worried about this guy - he's a fine looking pigeon, too.
DW- I bet you a pigeon fancier somewhere has lost their bird, especially if he is banded. Maybe he got his signals crossed or was hungry and landed in your yard. I am not sure how you can find out who owns pigeons in your area, maybe call the SPCA or a group like that. Too bad you cannot read the band #'s that may help you find his owner. The cat could seriously harm him, one bite and the toxic bacteria in their mouth can kill the bird in 48 hours! I have seen it happen many times. I hope it works out with your pigeon castaway!

A corby hawk? That is a lovely photo, I like the bare branches with the slight hint of buds to come. xoxo ♥
Nice silhouette.
